Favorite Things Friday- Dedicated To Mothers Everywhere!

I'm dedicating my Favorite Things Friday to my favorite people... mothers everywhere!  With Mother's Day on Sunday I wanted to bring you a favorite gift... this gift only costs $1 but is truly priceless.

When I was about the age my daughter is now, I remember making my mom a plate, with little hand drawn pictures on it.  It was probably a Mother's Day gift although I can't specifically remember the holiday, or where I made it (school I'm guessing?)  What I do remember is how much my mom loved it.  We had a shelf in our mudroom growing up and that plate was proudly displayed there from the time I made it until the time we moved when I was 15... so it probably sat on that shelf for around 10 years straight.  Every time I looked at it I remember thinking how happy that plate made my mom, and how happy it made me to give her something that made her smile as much as she made me smile every single day.

So this year, I decided both she and my mother-in-law needed plates, from their grandchildren.  We've already given them and looks on their faces were priceless.  This gift is so simple, so inexpensive, but so meaningful it makes me tear up when I look at it!

A ceramic plate (I picked ours up at the Dollar Tree for $1 each)
Sharpies (or other permanent marker)

Figure out what you want to put on the plate.  (I wanted to have both kids involved in this and my son isn't great at drawing yet so I figured handprints were the best way to go.  He also was able to help do the grass and my 5 year old daughter did the rest of the drawing and wrote the words at the top)
Use a combination of paint and markers to create your design.
Let it dry.
Place the plate(s) in the oven at 300 degrees for 30 minutes to set.
That's it!  Perfect gift!

To mothers everywhere (and especially to my mother, mother-in-law, my sister, and my friends), thank you.  Thank you for your love, your patience, your dedication, your time, your kindness, your support, your heart and soul, your everything that you pour into your children every day.  You all are amazing.  Every day.  Happy Mother's Day All!
